Internet.......is it being fully utilised or exploited???
Internet...................
is it being fully utilised or exploited???
How often have we tried listing the
benefits of Internet and how far we are using it to its full
potential.
Will be amazed that we are not even
half way through towards that!!
The Business communications have seen
a see of change in the last decade. I still remember days when we had
to physically deliver all the quotations and communications to our
customers and vendors. Few of the demanding customers have made us
send revised quotations as many as half a dozen times. And they would
want it in less than half an hour!!!
Thanks to email revolution, we are not
averse to sending any number of revised quotations, since it just
takes a few seconds to few minutes to send in a communication.
We are able to chat, video confer,
transfer documents, information and data in a short time and the
cost of communication has reduced drastically.
Thanks to the powerful search engines,
and the collective knowledge of the world, we get most of the
information needed in a touch of a button.
The tools to advertise, brand building,
and support have all changed for good.
Able to search and locate friends and
contacts who have been untraceable for years together, find the
exact location while driving the car or in a new place, getting the
prices of interested items, and buying online, booking travel tickets
and hotels, track the courier consignment.......................
Banking is one sector which has
benefited enormously through internet, right from checking the
balances, online banking, to reducing the visits to the banks to the
minimum, thanks to ATMs, to transferring to locations across the
globe in matter of hours at reduced costs, making payments to various
services online...................
Servers, VPN, etc have broken the
barriers of time and distance.................
Friends and relatives sharing
information from photos to videos, public domains with their
activities, sharing useful and wasteful information. What about the
social networking sites, which has changed the way people share
information, communicate, love, hate, cheat, get cheated, earn and
loose friends, customers, and the e world is travelling towards
virtual relationships, and the trend to encash this scenerio for
business promotions is fast catchingup.
We are selling and buying without
meeting each other.... topographical limitations hardly exist........
The services and post sale support by
companies turning towards voice interactive solutions to save time
and money(though testing the patience of the one who dials)
Looking back, it is amasing how
internet has changed the economy and the way business is done.
Is it not time to sit back, take stock
of how well we exploit internet for our businesses to increase
efficiency, save time and man power?
