Are Business Owners paying themselves enough?

Do small business owners pay themselves enough?

Are they doing what they are supposed to?

How many business owners are aware and calculate the value of time and effort put in by them for running their business.

i.e. The number of roles that he is playing on day to day basis.

If you are a business owner, just do a small exercise.

Divide the number of roles and responsibilities into managerial roles.

Check from the market the price you have to  pay for each role.

Add all the prices together which cumulatively is the value you are offering to your business.

Then deduct your personal drawings. In most cases, there will be a gap.
The difference that is derived is the additional expense that has to be added back to the expenses, in the event of having people with the required skills/specialties.

Most times you can observe that you would have paid yourself lower than the actual value.

This has the potential to change the profitability of the business.

Moreover,  a business owner is forced to play multiple roles either because he can't afford to hire professionals, or he thinks that it's not required to hire people for those roles.

In both the cases, can a business owner justify the roles by doing them effectively?

Even assuming that he is good at handling then well, how is he going to priorities the works related to different roles.

It is very critical for the business owner to study how adding team members is going to reduce his pressure and anxiety and let him concentrate on what he is supposed to do; run the business.

Bottomline:
Very successful business owners surround themselves with  team members who are better than them  and who are more informed.

They also have a mentor to guide them.

The only challenge is to get the right people to handle right roles and responsibilities, which most successful people are good at....
