Impact of pandemic is expected to have far reaching effects in India with atleast one specific problem likely to turn into an opportunity.
There is likely Exodus of Indians in an unprecedented Reverse Brain Drain in the next year or two.
Many a Tech business in the USA are dependent on Indian brains.
At the same time, whether the US economy cannot afford to pay all these people
150 to 200 thousand Indians may loose jobs in US in the next one year.
In Europe also quite a number of lndians are likely to loose jobs.
How many of these Indian who are forced to go back to their native country would be interested to return to US or Europe again, is a million dollar question.
This will result in one of the biggest reverse Brain drain in India.
Many Indians are likely to pack lock, stock, & barrel and come back to India to settle forever.
Many of them may start business on their own. Because, the chances of getting a job in India which matches their earlier salary is very low.
Two scenarios are likely to emerge:
Scenario 1:
Along with investments, technology, ideas and western business culture will also be brought to India by these people...
They may even attract some investors who are watching India closely. Afterall, India will be one the very few economies which will grow positive in the next couple of years...
Scenario 2:
Few are likely to look for viable but sick SMEs where they can invest.
They may do this to save their time in terms of starting a new company and to actimize and understand Indian business environment, which is alien to them.
One challenge in this model will be the cross culture adoption by both the investing and existing partners.
With the above more likely to happen, chances of number of SMEs, Who otherwise will suffer a lot, might be saved, post pandemic.
Lets remember that it is unlikely that all those who come back to India will plunge into business.
How far these will help to save jobs or generate new jobs in Indian Startup and SME sectors has to be waited and watched..
I am very positive that Indian government will be proactive by offering concessions to Investments by NREs who come back to India.
