It's Story time friends...
Once a Guru was travelling through a forest during a hot summer with all his disciples.
They had to walk the whole day in the hot sun.
Being the peak of summer,
trees were barren,
pathways were hot,
there was no water to drink and
the Sun was scorching.
Every one was so tired, and many were even hurt by dried shrubs and bushes which pierced the skin like thorns.
Everyone was hungry and thirsty at the same time and still had no choice but to travel pushing themselves hard towards their destination which was their Ashram..
They all realised that they had to somehow manage & cross the forest and reach their destination. Staying behind to rest will only make things worse, since they will only get more dehydrated and may loose their confidence...
Finally before the End of the day, around Sunset they all reached their Ashram totally exhausted.
After a deserving bath and dinner everyone was preparing themselves to retire for the day.
After all, they were too exhausted.
One of the disciples who was next to the Guru heard the saying his usual prayers before retiring to bed. He was surprised because during the prayer he heard the Guru thanking God for whatever was given to him and his disciples on that day.
Infact, his anger got better of his surprise.
He asked his Guru "Guruji I don't understand! God gave us nothing today. In fact we had no food, no water, no respite from Sun.
Moreover few of us even suffered, hurt by the stones and pierced by thorns.
We suffered so much and you are still thanking God as though he gave us everything.
The Guru smiled and said "Son, God gave us all these difficulties. More than the difficulties, he gave us the strength to overcome the difficulties and also an understanding and realisation that all difficulties can be overcome and will come to an end. I thanked God for that."
People who succeed in life behave like this teacher, who understands that difficulties are part of life and they can be overcome by simply going through them with a grit and determination to reach the Goal Post.
They also know from their experience that there is always light at the end of every tunnel.
They do not complain. On the other hand, they are thankful, because they were given the strength and resources to tide over the situation and are closer to their destiny. .
With this realisation they work their way through, especially during tough situations in their life and are able to reach the destination called success.
